Lunch!!


Hey Class. Two items:

1)Olga Mendieta's husband Jesse is graciously going to come cook us lunch at noon on Saturday! So all you will have to bring (or buy across the street) is your own drinks

2)I know that Liz strongly encouraged you to buy your books for all three spring classes last month. But just in case you haven't ordered the books for the April and May classes, please order them right away. We can't take a chance on you not receiving your books and reading them before each class.

Both are very cheap, just a few dollars of you buy them used on amazon (and be sure to click rush shipping, as you are still paying far less than bookstore price)
If you prefer not to order online, the April book is very popular. and in many bookstores locally, but will cost you $20 more than amazon.

The May book is one dollar on amazon, but impossible to find locally.
Also, remember what I told you a long time ago, this is a different book than was on the handout Liz originally gave you!

Syllabus

Syllabus: Introduction to Christian Education
School: Latin American Bible Institute-Sanger Extension

Textbook: "Introduction to Christian Education: Foundations For The Future" by Clark,Johnson,Sloat
Dates: Fri March 26, 2010 7-10pm and Sat. March 27 9am-5pm

Overview: Introduces student to a Christ-centered, Bible-based theology and practice of education/discipling within a church,ministry and home context. Teaching/learning styles, cross-cultural differences and the shape of contemporary culture will be special emphases..

Pre-class assignment:
The entire textbook is to be read before class, and certain chapters will be focused on in a test which opens the Friday session. The book is made up of five "parts" or sections; and each "part" has several chapters.

  • Part 1: Chapters 1 and 2. Test will have questions on the content of these chapters.
  • Part 2: Chapters 6, 10 and 13. Test will have questions on the content of these chapters.
  • Part 3: Everyone pick one chapter from this section, and then write a closed-book summary of it in class.
  • Part 4: Everyone pick one chapter from this section, and then write a closed-book summary of it in class.
  • Part 5: Everyone pick one chapter from this section, and then write a closed-book summary of it in class.
Grading:
  • Exam (50%)
  • Attendance/Spirit/Participation (25%)
  • Final Project (25%)

How I look forward to seeing you all soon!
This will be an especially rewarding class..
but, returning students, note that this class, and the April and May classes are all a new format:

Students order the course textbook, and read it all in preparation before class (which is a weekend intensive). Content of certain chapters will be on test in class (that list on right side of this website).

So rush order your book right away..link at right...many copies for $1 on Amazon!!

Several of you are about to graduate, so this is home stretch! Congratulations!
